The Northumberland County League has welcomed six new clubs on board for 2008-9, all of whom make their first appearance in open-age women's competition.

The debutants are Blyth Town Ladies, Gosforth Bohemian Garnett and Newcastle Medics B. North Shields Ladies, Prudhoe YC Ladies and Cramlington Jnrs Development all competed in the Northumberland County Girls U16 League last season and have now made the transition into open-age football.

The Northumberland County Women’s League is to form part of the new Northumberland Girls and Women’s League which is due to be formed at an AGM on 5th July 2008. This will see both Women and Girls’ football, both mini soccer and 11 a side being available across Northumberland, providing a clear pathway for all involved to progress up the player pathway.
