Northumberland Football Association, working in partnership with The Football Association, is seeking to appoint a County Welfare Officer (18.5 hours per week)
This position will commence in July 2008. The successful applicant will be based at Northumberland FA Headquarters, but will work from home on occasions
Salary: £10,000
Contract: April 2008 to December 2010 (thereafter subject to additional funding being available)
Closing Date: Friday 2 May
Interviews: Mid June 2008
This exciting new position will report to the County Development Manager and will also provide quarterly updates to The FA Child Protection Manager. The position has a key responsibility to safeguard children and vulnerable adults – in line with legislation and FA policy and procedures.
The successful candidate will be approachable, have a child-centered approach and the ability to maintain this perspective when carrying out the role
• Development of a Northumberland FA Safeguarding Children Action Plan
• Advising on the implementation of relevant safeguarding legislation and guidance.
• Promotion of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults policy and procedures.
• Strategic planning to address poor behavior and raise standards in line with the National Game Strategy.
• Fulfill the duties of the Northumberland FA Child Protection Officer
• Management of poor practice cases within the County.
• Referral of child abuse concerns to The FA.
• Roll out of responsible recruitment practice including CRB Disclosures.
• Working in partnership with County FA Governance and Development staff.
• Establishing a network of designated persons responsible for safeguarding children;
To apply you must be passionate about and committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults at a local level. You must be able to work under pressure, sometimes dealing with conflict and possible animosity whilst maintaining confidentiality. In addition you must manage multiple priorities, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively influence at all levels.
Ideally you will also have previous experience of working in a role involved in safeguarding children or vulnerable adults, Knowledge of safeguarding children in sport practice and the work of the CPSU and experience of working in training and education.
The successful candidate will posses a driving licence and have access to their own transport. The post will be offered subject to completion of an Enhanced CRB Disclosure.
