Following on from winning the county awards for Northumberland, Lounghoughton Juniors and Newcastle University AFC have been recognised at a regional level for their contribution to grassroots football.
Both clubs competed against other county winners from Cumberland, North Riding and Durham, with Longhoughton receiving the award for Regional Charter Standard Development Club of the Year 2009 and Newcastle University AFC the award for Adult Club.
Both clubs now go forward to the national finals where they will compete against other regional winners to be crowned National Charter Standard Club of the Year 2009 in their relevant category.
Details of the outcome of the national finals will be posted here as soon as they are announced.
