National Young Leaders Camp - Northumberland FA Application Process Now Open!

12:15 PM, Monday, 22 February 10. Volunteers

The Camp will run from Monday 12th July – Friday 16th July 2010 and will involve a whole variety of learning opportunities around leadership skills, team building and football in general. The event will be run by National FA staff and cover a whole breadth of football disciplines, from learning about coaching and refereeing, to sports science and goalkeeping, and on to disability football and the new and exciting game of 5-a-side called futsal!

As well as attending the FA Young Leadership Camp, a number of young leaders will be selected to help organise and run the 2011 Leadership Camp and 2-4 young leaders will be selected to support our international placement programme and help support and run festivals for children in Africa. A fantastic opportunity and life changing moment I’m sure you’ll agree, plus there is the chance to volunteer and work at national, regional and county football events in England too.

In order to apply for the Camp, you must complete the attached forms and return these, having been signed by your teacher or club secretary with relevant certificates etc, and return to your local County FA. You must be aged 16 or 17 at the time of the camp, in school, college or currently volunteering in a FA Charter Standard Club. Please note, if you attended the camp last year then unfortunately you cannot apply this year.

Further to this, you must be completing, or have completed, a leadership or football qualification as detailed on the nomination form. You must also commit to volunteering for 25 hours in an FA Charter Standard Club after the event and make use of the new skills and knowledge you have and pass these on to supporting grassroots football, for which you will then receive, a certificate of recognition.

The deadline for your application to be with your County FA is Friday 9th April 2010 and unfortunately late applications can’t be considered, so ensure you complete all the relevant sections and get this signed and completed in time.

If you need any further information, and an application form please email Mark Woodhall, Football Development Officer for Northumberland FA here.
