Burradon & New Fordley will be flying the flag for Northumberland this weekend in the last eight of the FA Sunday Cup against Sunderland Southwick.

The FA Sunday Cup is an application-only competition which is contested by clubs in the higher Divisions of a Sunday League sanctioned by The Football Association or an affiliated Association.

Burradon have been prolific so far, scoring 15 goals over three rounds – including a 4-0 trouncing of Kensington Fields in the previous round.

Sunday’s fifth round tie has been described as their ‘biggest game in history’ with the Tynesiders looking to overcome Wearside opposition for a spot in the semi-finals.

Southwick, who compete in the Sunderland Sunday League, are also expecting a large following to make the trip up the A19 for the derby.

The Burradon team, which consists of a few former FA Vase winners, have been playing their home games out of Amberley Park to meet the FA’s minimum ground grading standard.

And the Northern Alliance ground will play host to their big game on Sunday with admission prices set as £2 for adults and £1 for concessions – kick off 2pm.

If Burradon are successful they will go into the hat for the semi-final draw – matches to be played on Sunday 31st March 2019.
