New County Representative Youth Team manager appointed

Nick Gray takes the helm

Nick Gray has been appointed as manager of Northumberland FA’s U18 County Representative Team.

Nick has enjoyed a long career in football, and played for the County team himself as a teenager. After 3 years at Northampton Town, he spent several seasons in non-league football before turning to coaching.

After gaining his UEFA A licence he began his managerial career at Seaton Delaval Amateurs, before spending a decade in charge at Morpeth Town. Nick is currently Director of Morpeth Town’s new Academy, and is also involved in the grassroots game in his role as Head of Coaching at Newcastle City Juniors.

Nick says: “Covid has had a huge impact and there has been a real lack of football at this level recently. It will be great to get the area’s best talent together on the pitch to represent the County and play against teams of a similar standard. We already have some friendlies arranged and we can’t wait to get started.”

Northumberland FA’s Executive Officer, Andrew Rose-Cook, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Nick to the team. We had a great response to our recent trials and we’re excited to see what the future holds.”
