Referee Promotions

All promotion candidates will undergo a Laws of the Game exam on the evening where upon successful completion ALL candidates will then be requested to complete a fitness assessment in accordance to their application.

Promotion Criteria 

You must be 16 years old or older.

You must complete a minimum 2400m within 12 minutes as well as 2 x 50m sprints under 8 secs (dates to be confirmed upon application).

Attend a recognised Promotion Seminar

Referees must have officiated for a minimum of one Season.

Attend a recognised Promotion Seminar.

To pass a multiple choice written examination in the Laws of the Game.

You must be officiating in 11-a-side football which consists of players 18 years old and older.

To referee a minimum of 15 matches during the promotion season from 1st March 2017 to the last day in February 2018.

To have been assessed on at least 3 occasions & be in the top 50% of club marks in the leagues they officiate (NFA Referees Committee decide)

You must be prepared to officiate in County Cup fixtures.

You must ensure you close all unavailable dates.

You must be 16 years old or older.

You must officiate in a minimum of 5 fixtures as an Assistant Referee.

To have been assessed on at least 3 occasions & be in the top 50% of club marks in the leagues they officiate (NFA Referees Committee decide)

You must be prepared to officiate in County Cup fixtures

You must ensure you close all unavailable dates.

You must be 16 years old or older.

You must complete a minimum 2400m within 12 minutes as well as 2 x 50m sprints under 8 secs (dates to be confirmed upon application).

To pass an FA recognised fitness assessment as stipulated by the FA.

To referee a minimum of 20 matches on allocated leagues during the promotion season

To be an assistant referee on a minimum of 10 matches at Senior Level during the promotion season (Northern League Division 2, Wearside League or Northern Alliance Premier League)

To have been assessed on at least 5 occasions

Complete an examination in the Laws of the Game.

Must attend a Regional In Service Nomination Training Session, delivered by The FA (dates and location tbc)

You must be prepared to officiate in County Cup fixtures

You must ensure you close all unavailable dates.

Respond to all correspondence in writing (email)
Provide written assurances regarding availability to the County and Referee Appointment Secretaries
Maintain a record of all matches, whether as referee or assistant referee
Be proficient in completion of misconduct report writing and attend disciplinary hearings as required.
