CEO Column: Fantastic Turnout at Pitch Improvement Conference

Thank you for joining me on the Northumberland FA website for the latest edition of my weekly column.

I’ll start this week’s edition by saying how delighted I was to see such a positive turnout at our Pitch Improvement Conference last month.

A total of 50 delegated joined us for a day of practical demonstrations and insightful seminars from experts in the pitch maintenance industry at Close House Golf Club, and the initial feedback we’ve had has been overwhelmingly positive. I’m pleased to say that next year’s conference has already been confirmed to take place on Thursday 21 February 2019 – once again at the magnificent Close House Golf Club.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our guest speakers and delegates for making it such an enjoyable day, and Close House for providing such superb hospitality. We look forward to welcoming you all back next year.

Staying with pitch maintenance, with the county having suffered from severe weather conditions over recent weeks, I feel now is a good time to remind clubs of our Pitch Perfect initiative.

Working alongside several Hub Sites in Northumberland, Pitch Perfect offers a range of pitch maintenance services at affordable prices, including grass cutting and line marking, with the main aim of the project being to improve pitches and facilities throughout the region. To find out what services are available to your club, simply email PitchPerfect@NorthumberlandFA.com

Finally, earlier this week we announced that our 2018 Techflow Marine Senior Cup final will take place at St James’ Park on Wednesday 2 May (7:30pm KO).

I think it’s great that our showpiece event will once again take place at the home of Premier League football in the North East, and I’m sure the two finalists – Newcastle United U23s and Morpeth Town – will produce a thoroughly entertaining contest.
