This year’s Northumberland County Cup Finals will be a real family occasion with three brothers: Sam, Josh and Ben Ray all officiating at the end of season finales.

Sam Ray and Josh Ray will be assistant referee and fourth official for the TyneMet College U16 Rangers Cup, whereas the youngest of the siblings, Ben Ray, will be an assistant for the Wade Financial U12 Girls Cup.

All three were presented with their accolades at an event held last month to recognise the continuous great work and development of referees within Northumberland.

Following the announcement David Martin, Chairman of the NFA Referees Committee, said: “Over the season the Ray Brothers have made an excellent contribution in refereeing for the Northumberland Football Association.

“Their dedication and most important their willingness to take on board development advise has been recognised by the NFA by awarding each of them an appointment to a County Final. Congratulations.”
