Northumberland FA to Host Awards Night
Northumberland Football Association is pleased to announce our first ever awards night on Friday 31st May 2019 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle.
In partnership with the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation we are holding this event as a celebration of all things grassroots football and to recognise those who are making a positive impact on the sport in Northumberland.
Techflow Marine and Reeves Independent have kindly offered to sponsor the event and BBC Newcastle’s Anthony Rutherford will present on the night alongside a host of high profile names who will be in attendance.
We will have a presentation for the FA Grassroots Football Awards as well as a number of additional awards to acknowledge the fantastic work being conducted by individuals and teams across the county.
Early bird tickets will be available at a subsidised price in the near future. If you would like to be notified when tickets go live please follow the link below.
After the confirmation of the awards night Northumberland FA’s Commercial Manager, Andrew Cook commented: “We have been looking for new ways to celebrate the incredible contribution of grassroots participants in our community.
"We want to bring together all those people who make football in Northumberland incredibly strong and our number one sport.
"Our awards celebration will also double up a charitable fundraiser for grassroots football and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation - a more than worthy cause which makes a real difference to those tackling cancer across the nation.”
Pauline Buglass from the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation added: “We’ve been very lucky to receive support from lots of different people and organisations within the football community from every level, from grassroots to the very top of the game.
“It’s always appreciated and I know it’s something Sir Bobby’s family have always been touched by.
“We’re grateful to Northumberland FA for including us within this special event and I’m sure Sir Bobby would strongly approve of it recognising those people who are making a difference to the grassroots game.”
Sir Bobby Robson launched his Foundation in 2008 to help find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer.
The work funded directly benefits cancer patients in the North East and Cumbria and plays a significant role in the international fight against the disease - funding cutting-edge cancer treatment and innovative cancer support services, including the clinical trials of new drugs at the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre.
