Be a Game Changer
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 and to help turn awareness into action, we are teaming up with NUFC Foundation to support and encourage grassroots clubs, their members and supporters, to change the game.
The Be a Game Changer campaign was launched in 2019 to encourage football fans to talk openly about mental health. The North East has one of the highest rates of suicide nationally, and 75% of all suicides are male. This must change. The Be a Game Changer campaign provides grassroots clubs with the tools to promote positive physical and mental fitness in your Club and ultimately reduce the risks of suicide and poor mental health in our region. You can find a range of campaign content here.
At the Northumberland FA we have taken the step to become Be a Game Changer Champions, this means we are committed to sharing the campaign messages on a regular basis to our members. By becoming Champions we are hoping to increase mental health awareness, reduce mental health stigma and improve wellbeing across the FA.
We are encouraging all Clubs to sign up to the Be a Game Changer campaign to improve the wellbeing of your members and your community. To find out more contact Thomas.Graham@nufc.co.uk
We would also love to hear about the great work clubs already do to support positive mental health of their members and all involved in grassroots football and the wider community. Tweet us on @NorthumFA
