New Lionesses Coach Development Programme

Free workshops will support coaches and help the build confidence and knowledge in the female game

The Lionesses Coach Development programme will provide an opportunity for female coaches wanting to improve their coaching confidence and knowledge. The programme which kicks off in March will provide three FREE workshops aimed at bringing together female coaches to engage with qualified tutors. Workshops will entail a blend of theory and practical based sessions to link to their own coaching environments, with each workshop having a unique coaching topic. The workshops will help supplement the main Coach the Coach programme delivered year-round by Northumberland FA.

Suey Smith (FA Regional Women and Girls Coach Development Officer) and Lloyd Miller (Football Development Officer – Women and Girls) will tutor on each workshop throughout this programme.

Female coaches are encouraged to register their interest by clicking here

Workshop 1 “Knowing the Basics” - Friday March 11th

Workshop 2 “Managing player differentiation” – Thursday May 26th

Workshop 3 “Developing the detail” – Monday July 18th

Suey Smith said “It’s fantastic to see this become a reality with the launch of the Lionesses Coach Development programme at Northumberland FA. With the FA’s vision to inspire and empower a diverse female workforce this group will be so valuable. To support the female coaches and help the build confidence and knowledge is something I am excited to be part of in my role as FA Regional Women and Girls Coach Development Officer.”

Lloyd Miller also added We are very excited to launch this female only initiative that will provide a platform for like-minded female coaches to share good practice between both tutors and learner coaches. The Lionesses Coach Development programme will offer FREE face-to-face workshops that will help supplement our existing Coach the Coach provision. Northumberland FA recognises the value of providing our coaches with regular opportunities to further their learning from in-person coach education."
