Northumberland FA would like to congratulate Newcastle Futsal Partnership, Throckley Magpies and Blyth Town who all competed in the Pokemon Futsal Youth Cup – Regional Round which took place at Sport Central, Northumbria University on Saturday May 27th and Sunday May 28th. Northumberland FA is delighted to see the below teams compete and represent their clubs and county tremendously well against teams from 7 other County FA’s who descended on Sport Central for the North Region.

Newcastle Futsal Partnership (U12 Mixed winners)

Throckley Magpies (U14 Mixed winners)

Blyth Town (U14 Female winners)

These teams will now progress onto the National Finals of the Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup at the University of Wolverhampton on July 8th and July 9th. The National Finals will see teams from around the country join our teams from the following Regional Rounds; East, Midlands and South West, and South. The remaining Regional Rounds will comprise of 21 other County FA’s taking place over the next few weeks.

Northumberland FA have supported local teams with free futsal kit to better equip teams both short and long-term, to help provide further futsal playing opportunities for local players within their respective seasons. We have also partnered with Durham FA to deliver a FA Futsal CPD evening at Heworth Grange School which will see FA Tutor Bruce Vause deliver an Introduction to Futsal CPD workshop to local coaches. Another example of our ongoing commitment to support futsal within Northumberland county.

Lewis Cann from Newcastle Futsal Partnership commented “It is great for Northumberland FA to offer the opportunities for youth futsal in the area to compete in the local qualifiers for this national tournament. It goes to show there is a lot of futsal talent in the area, with all three teams from the Northumberland area winning their respective northern finals! We hope this continues in years to come and all age groups/genders get the opportunity to play long-term”

“Our young players have loved the occasion of the regional finals; with the stands packed with supporters, teams from all over the North competing, music and announcements regarding games over speakers. Our players loved every second! Both the Local Qualifier and Regional Round were officiated brilliantly by referees and organisers. Making it an enjoyable environment for all. We are looking forward to competing against some of the top futsal teams in the country - and potentially Chelsea Academy U12s”.
